i'm with you, too old school for Synchro crap >.>

but basically, they're a combination between fusion and ritual monsters. you don't need a spell card to summon them, so basically you have at least 2 monsters on the field (one of which is a Tuner monster) and you sacrifice the Tuner monster with other normal/effect monsters until their combined stars match the level of the monster (as in a Ritual summon) and you just bring him from the Fusion deck area.
